FAQs

Why should I get my door serviced?

Garage doors are a critical component of everyday life for most home and business owners, and we know that an operating garage door is imperative 24/7 in every kind of weather condition. The last thing you want is to be stuck outside in the rain or a storm battling your garage door over something minor that could have been picked up in a service!

Garage doors often involve complex technology (like automatic openers) that need care, maintenance, and attention to perform reliably and endure the test of time. Key operational elements of garage doors (like their lubrication and alignment) are also easily impaired and worn down over time, so we recommend having them checked every 12 months. In some cases, regular servicing is also required to ensure your warranty remains valid.

Is a garage door tune-up worth it?

In short – yes.  A door service is absolutely worth it!

Having a technician check the motor, top up the lubricants, and examine all the springs and parts on your roller door can save you costly repairs later down the track.  Regular care for your doors will save you time, stress, and money by avoiding emergency situations.

For example, if you don’t maintain your garage roller door through regular servicing, you run the risk of the door falling, not working, coming off its hinges, or breaking a spring.  In some cases, this kind of avoidable damage could also be a hazard to the people using it and the things stored within.

Should I repair or replace my garage door?

There are a lot of factors to consider when asking whether you should repair or replace your door. Many doors are designed so that broken parts can be fixed and elements like motors or springs can often be replaced when necessary. There are, however, times when replacing the door may be more economical or practical, and your ideal course of action will really depend on the severity of problems and parts involved.  The best way to tell what you need is to contact us and speak with one of our expert door technicians.  You never know – a lot of repair requests can be simple fixes to garage door openers that don’t require costly new or spare parts!

What is involved in a garage door checkup?

Our door technicians will do a thorough check of your garage door including the lubrication of moving parts like the springs, hinge points, rollers and locking device, the alignment of the door on the tracks, motors, electronics, coding and syncing of the garage door openers, barrels, weather seals, cables, springs and locks.  The technician can replace or repair the parts* that are not in proper working order and ensure your door is working at its optimum level.

Can I DIY my service instead?

Garage door servicing requirements rely on expertly trained technicians to do the job properly and safely.  We do not recommend DIY servicing, however, some minor things you can do in between servicing visits include lightly oiling hinge points with a 30W, keeping the guides clean, and washing the door panels with soapy water.
