As a part of Steel-Line Garage Doors’ 40 years anniversary celebration, we are sharing stories about our staff members and their contributions to the company.
Let’s get to know one of our team members…
Name: David Leese
Title: Branch Manager
Location: Adelaide
Tell me a bit about your background and what made you join Steel-Line?
When I left school, I worked for “THE NEWS” afternoon newspaper for ten years, followed by “ROTHMANS” for two years then “GLIDEROL” for eight. When Steel-Line opened in Adelaide, the first manager (Peter Williams) used to be my supervisor at Gliderol and he approached me and to come and work with him again.
How long have you been with Steel-Line?
November will be 28 Years.
I was interviewed for the sales representative job by a person (who shall remain nameless) whilst he was wearing a pair of Leotards.
What is the best thing that happened to you whilst working here?
So many good memories… the people I have worked with and continue to work with. When I look back however, it was just the fact that I was part of a small team that were able to start from nothing and grow to such a strength in Adelaide.
What motivates you to be successful your role?
To see our company grow and succeed.
What would be your advice to anyone starting with the company?
Do your best, look after the company and they will look after you.
What motivates day to day?
Family and friends
What do you do for fun / what are you passionate about?
I am involved in a local SANFL football (AFL) Team (Central district) and seeing the boys progress through to AFL ranks.
Best holiday ever and why?
Disneyland for just the look of sheer joy on my children’s faces and the fact I got to be a kid again.
What is something no one at work would know about you?
I am blind in my left eye.
Best advice anyone has given you?
My dad said, “ If you don’t tell lies you never have to remember a thing”.
